When Two Worlds Collide-sometimes they mesh, sometimes they don’t

Sell Art Online

People like to say that opposites attract when referring to a relationship.

Have you ever noticed those couples out there in your world that have you scratching your head, thinking, “HUH?”

She is a morning person, He is a night owl.

She loves to go out and about the town. He prefers to stay home and watch TV.

She loves the ballet. He loves Monday Night Football.

Her favorite meal of the day is breakfast. He can’t put anything in his stomach earlier than noon.

She likes soups and salads. He loves Junk Food.

These two people for whatever reason couldn’t be more wrong for each other.

It looks like a completely mismatched pair.

For some the two will never see eye to eye on anything.

Their union is a heartbreak just waiting to happen.

And then there are some, after some pushing and pulling, they decide that the differences between them is what is special about them. Their common respect for the other allows the freedom for each of them to be who they truly are and the love grows from that.

This painting is a reflection of that idea.

At the top of the painting you can see the clash between the colors on each opposite side. The colors do not mesh, they do not come together in any way. There is a definite dividing line between them, but as your eyes travel down the middle of the painting you will see two hearts who truly want to become one.

When two people come together and decide that the differences among them is okay, you can see underneath the two hearts, a blending of colors.

What was once red, black, white and yellow clashing against each other now blend into a pinkish color meshed together to make a new color. Or you see a crossing over of colors that represents the compromise some couples will take to appreciate the differences between them and still keep their own individuality.

When two worlds collide, sometimes it does not work out.

But sometimes it can.

To the Right-That is the way to go

Sell Art Online

This is a new watercolor art piece I painted recently. It is a compilation of a lot of lines that look like  the letter L. It is also a symbol of righteousness. I created this painting with this in mind.

In life there is always a choice or a path to follow. Depending on your views in life there is a right way and a wrong way for each of us. I believe myself to be a person of integrity. I follow a straight path and I do my best to do the right thing in all my affairs. Integrity and character are very important values to me and I prefer to live a life that reflects that.

Sometimes you have to make a decision about something in your life and as difficult as that is, I choose to move toward the right. That is what this artwork means to me.

What do you see when you look at this piece of art?

Character – Who’s watching you?

Art Prints

John Wooden has a quote that I have subscribed to for most of my life. Part of it goes like this.

Character is what you do when no one is looking.” John Wooden.

I was thinking about this when I created this watercolor. However, I decided to go in the opposite direction of this concept.

I would like to pose this question.

What do you do or how do you act when everyone is watching you?

Given the rise in social media and the influx of selfies all over the web. With surveillance cameras on so many street corners and all around it is something to think about.

What do you show about your character when all eyes are on you? Do you reveal the person you truly are or a person you want others to believe you to be?

The Web we Weave inside our Head

Sell Art Online

We as human beings can sometimes get ourselves in a real pickle wouldn’t you agree?

There are times in life when you think you are on the right path and you are looking straight ahead towards that goal or that endeavor. Whatever it is and all of a sudden something gets thrown at you and knocks you down.

Your mind is spinning and you are a hot mess. I did this ink drawing during a somewhat stressful time in my life recently. It looks like what my brain felt like with swirls here and there and so many thoughts fighting to stay on the frontline of my attention span.

But in drawing these shapes and lines over and over again in a somewhat robotic or trance-like state, it calmed me down.

Have you ever had so many things going on in your head and you were frustrated, overwhelmed and felt chaotic inside but things seemed to calm as you wrote out your thoughts? Maybe all you needed was to vent to someone until all that stress just left your body like a hot air balloon deflating?

That is what this drawing did for me and looking back on it makes me realize that things can be clear in your mind once you release what is stressing you out.

But oh my what a web we weave inside our head.

Do you have a time when you felt this way? What helped you release it or vent out what was bothering you?

Time Flies Away

If a flower gets kissed by the sun, then I’ll be fine

Right around the corner, Christmas is upon us. Another year, nearly finished and high expectations for the new upcoming year. I have been asking my friends on my social media sites, “How has shopping been for you”. I stopped into a store that is notorious for promoting a lot of savings during Black Friday and I was surprised to see it rather empty. It was not on Black Friday or Thursday that I went. I did not want to deal with the crowds. It was Sunday right after the Thanksgiving holiday. I must say I was not prepared for this scene. It looked like any other normal day at this mega-store.

I remember during years past, the shelves were emptied out, the toy section was in a disarray, it would take more than a few days to tidy up. It was not so this time. Were people not shopping like before?

This blog is not about the actual sales figures this store made in sales for this year’s Christmas holiday. This blog is about the stress people feel when it comes to the holidays.

This economy has see it’s share of hits lately. There are a lot of people out there that just do not have the extra cash to go on a shopping spree when there are bills to pay and mouths to feed. People have lost jobs or had other life-changing events that lead people to feel worry or even anxiety over the future.

Well there is a scripture in the Bible.

It is Matthew 6:25-27. 25″For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26″Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27″And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

This painting I just did reminds me of that scripture. I mean if the heaven’s above, God can lean down and kiss the flower with the nurturing light of the Sun, then I have nothing to fear. I know I am going to be okay.

Here is wishing you an amazing rest of the week.

B Sunflower STRONG

Have you ever felt like your back was against the wall, like the pressures of life’s experiences were coming down on you so hard you felt like you were going to fall apart?

Here is a description of the image below on my art page.

I was doing a photo shoot in the downtown area of Corpus Christi, Texas, when I saw a bunch of wildflowers, Sunflowers. It
was a windy day and when I saw them I liked how they were moving around as the wind pushed the petals toward the center. They looked windswept as if they were dancing.

As strong as the winds were, I was amazed to see the petals, even with the pressure of the harsh winds did not fall or fly away. I thought that was beautiful.

It reminds me to stand strong and not worry, even with all the pressures around, I can stand strong and not fear I will lose parts of myself through the rough times that we all will experience at one time or another in life.

Just remember when you feel like the walls are closing in or that you can’t handle what you are going through in life, think of this sunflower that withstood the winds and remained intact.

You too are “Sunflower STRONG”

I LOVE-Paintings I Love website

Paintings I love – Brigitte Cadena

Sure it’s a play on words but I just couldn’t resist.

This is a website that is FOR the Artist. I stumbled onto this site this summer and had it in my mind I would give it a try. This site is for the artists to showcase their paintings and get feedback on their work.

I was seriously wanting to get some feedback on some of my latest work in painting and this is the best place I have found so far.

Michelangelo was adament in his time that he considered himself first a sculptor before he was a painter. According to Art History he never wanted the commission of the Sistine Chapel but the Pope insisted that he do this job or risk future jobs he was negotiating.

You see, I love all art. I really do and when I set out to try a new medium or technique-I just dive right in-no life saver vest or anything. However, I have been doing photography for so many years, it comes so naturally for me, I don’t even think twice when I have my camera in my hand, I click away.

As far as drawing and painting, I taught myself to draw through much trial and error back in 2008. When I first started drawing I really believed I was only capable of drawing little stick figures. As I continued on with this I got better and better. Charcoal is a favorite of mine, I love working with the different tones and values that charcoal as messy as it is allows. Painting is much more new to me than drawing and taking pictures. So yes I wanted to see what others, artists like myself thought about my work. And I found this great website:
Paintings I love – Brigitte Cadena that offers me just what I needed.

If you are an artist and you want to get some good constructive feedback for your work or new pieces, this is the place to join. The people are friendly and encouraging and you will be among some wonderful talented artists from all over the world.
